LAST DAY IN PARIS! Day 9, Sunday, June 12

We took the Metro (we're really figured it out now!) to Saint Sulpice and walked from one historic building to another. Paris is an art museum! The streets are covered with magnificent art and architecture!

The day was lovely, so we enjoyed a long stroll past the Luxembourg palace ( now Senate) and through the huge gardens - along with the joggers, those doing tai chi and the tennis players.

At the Parthenon we saw Foucault's pendulum, from 1853.

After a great meal at a British pub, we wondered past the many Sorbonne buildings, on to the rene vivante square and ending up again at Shakespeare and Co., Notre Dame and back home again - to pack and get ready to head off to Basel Switzerland tomorrow.

Quote over the Shakespeare & Co. door:

Thou art still alive
While thy book doth live
And we have wits to read
And praise to give.

Just when I'm recalling my French, tomorrow we'll have to switch to German (and from euros to Swiss francs).
